We’re inviting the community to help shape this year’s celebration. Share your ideas to honor our past, celebrate the present, and help build a vibrant Pan-Asian future rooted in Detroit’s historic Chinatown.
The Detroit Chinatown Block Party is an event for everyone who is excited to see the former Chinatown revitalized. We welcome ideas from the community for events that you feel would celebrate the past and present, as we look to a bright and exciting future for a new Pan Asiantown rooted in Detroit's historic Chinatown. Ideally, you or someone you know, is willing to be a leader to make the event come to fruition in collaboration with the Block Party team.
Fill out this Event Suggestion Form by May 1st, 2026.
**You will be notified by May 10th if your event is selected.

Event ideas that have funding available will be prioritized, but we will consider all event ideas. We will be in touch to discuss potential assistance with funding needs.
If your event idea is selected, you will be assigned a liaison from our Block Party team to help you navigate the process of finalizing your event.
Begin by itemizing all potential expenses such as equipment needs, staffing, etc. Allocate funds for unexpected costs and compare local vendor rates to ensure a competitive rate. If selected, work closely with your Block Party liaison contact.
Starting early is crucial. If selected, establish a timeline, in collaboration with your Block Party liaison, that outlines key tasks, milestones, and deadlines.
Let your block party liaison know early (ideally in early June) if you need any volunteers to assist with your event. Follow your event timeline and track completion of tasks, delegate responsibilities, and maintain a centralized list of vendors and supplies. Use digital tools to track progress and set reminders for deadlines.
Yes. You can donate here to the Block Party and any additional funds will be used to support our work to revitalize Detroit's Chinatown. Thank you!
